When Does City Council Meet?
Greg Abarr
Council Member
I began serving on City Council when we were still in receivership and heavily in debt. I wanted to apply my skills to bring the City out of dept and provide the City services its citizens deserve. I have helped accomplish the first task and the City finances are on solid ground. We have made progress but, I want to continue to work with the Mayor and my fellow Councilmembers to add more services for our citizens.
Evelyn Jones
Council Member
On May 12, 2012, I was elected Mayor for the City of Arcola. I took office on May 17, 2012 and served a two-year term.
I was elected Council Member for the City of Arcola on May 19, 2015 for a two-year term, reelected on May 16, 2017 for a two-year term, reelected on May 14, 2019 for a two-year term, and on May 1, 2021 for a two-year term. I have been in office for a total of 8 years now.
I was born in Bay City, Texas to Mack Mangum Sr. and Sarah Grice Mangum. They are both deceased. I am married to Abraham Jones for the past 57 years and we have seven children. To me, all my children are a blessing and they are normal like everyone else who has children. I am a member of Alpha and Omega Holiness Church in Angleton, Texas where Overseer G. M. Law is the Pastor. I have lived in Arcola, Texas for over 30 years. I love working for the citizens of Arcola. I try my best to be their voices and I am always available for their calls or visits whenever they have a concern. I thank everyone for their support through the years.
